Axes are a type of melee weapon and the only means of utilizing the woodcutting skill to obtain logs from trees. All axes can be used to cut wood at any woodcutting level, with no skill requirements. However each axe requires the appropriate attack level in order to be wielded as a weapon.
The rune axe is the only type of axe which cannot be purchased from a store. It must be received as a drop from a monster, created using the smithing skill, or traded from another player.
Although the dragon axe uses the same suffix in RuneScape Classic, it cannot be used to cut wood, and is considered a battle axe.

- Bob's Axes in Lumbridge sells axes all the way up to Steel grade.
