Bows are the most commonly used type of Ranged weapon. They are 2-handed weapons (preventing the use of shields) and shoot arrows carried in the player's inventory. Bows can only be used at a distance in RuneScape Classic. If the opponent reaches the player for melee combat, the characters immediately revert to melee.
Near the start of the Underground Pass, the player uses any type of bow (excluding crossbows) to shoot a lit arrow in order to lower the old bridge for passage.
