The main RuneScape Wiki has an article on: Cooking training
The Old School RuneScape Wiki also has an article on Cooking training.

Starting out as a slow skill, Cooking becomes one of the quickest to level when failure rates decrease.  It is easily trained alongside Fishing.  At lower levels, food has a high chance of burning, and progressively lowers depending on the player's Cooking level.  Burnt food is usually discarded, as it bears no monetary benefits nor usefulness. Upon completion of the Family Crest quest, you may obtain Gauntlets of Cooking. Wearing them while Cooking will reduce the chance of burning fish. The effect is approximately equal to Cooking level boost of 9.

1-20[]

  • Raw meats dropped by certain creatures, namely rats, bears, and cows, can be used at lower levels for the beginning levels with very little effort and amounts.
  • Cooking can also begin alongside Fishing if the player chooses not to make money off selling raw fish (negligible profits at lower levels). Raw Shrimp can be caught south of the bank in Draynor Village, or along the shore in Catherby.

20-99[]

  • Fish obtained through Fishing and trading can later be used for combat, and is often cooked to grant experience in a variety of skills, directly or indirectly.
  • Wine is unlocked at level 30 and with enough grapes, this method can grant very quick Cooking experience.

Additional Notes[]

When trained together, 99 Cooking will be obtained before 99 Fishing. The most common fish to train to 99 are salmon and trout as well as lobsters. For self-sufficient players, catching and cooking the caught salmon and trout would be the fastest method to do for 99 Cooking. See also: Fishing training

Raw lobster certificate Players with enough wealth may want to consider buying certficiates such as Raw lobster certificates or Raw shark certificates to help significantly speed up the Cooking training.
