Spear Equipped

Wielding a spear.

Pieces of equipment (aka. gear) are items that can be worn by the character, such as armour and jewellery. Equipment also includes weapons, which are wielded. Equipment can have combat bonuses, like a rune long sword, or be simply cosmetic, like a dragonstone necklace.

Inventory

Various gear is equipped.

Equipment is carried within the inventory like all other items, and can be worn or wielded by clicking it. Some equipment, like arrows and runes, aren't actually wielded in order to be used.

In a broader sense, equipment can be referred to as items associated with a task. For example, Fishing has an assortment items used to catch fish, and Mining includes pickaxes, which can't be used as weapons in RuneScape Classic. Even for Firemaking, it's recommended to carry the necessary tools to chop and burn the logs, but to also fill the remaining inventory spaces with logs. This results in logs automatically dropping to the floor when chopped and saving the player a step in doing it themselves before lighting them.

Trivia[]

  • In RuneScape 2, an additional interface tab was created to store gear while it was equipped in order to make space within the inventory. As a result, Jagex designed the inventory size to be 28 slots as opposed to the 30 available in RSC.
