Holiday Drops in RuneScape Classic were an early form of various special and holiday events found presently in Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3.

The tradition of holiday drops started in October 2001 with the pumpkin drop for Halloween. On Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, items like the Easter egg or Santa's hat would just appear out of nowhere in random places across Gielinor.

In 2003, Jagex decided to make all future holiday items untradeable because of drop-related problems. For example, the impact on the game's economy that the discontinued items had, including the Great Party Hat Dupe. Andrew Gower lamented this decision in an official website newspost, but described deciding that ultimately it would be in the best interest of the games community.
