Iron is a metal made of iron ore. It is dark grey in colour. Iron is stronger than bronze but the second weakest metal in RuneScape Classic. New players and pures often use iron equipment as it does not have a level requirement in attack or defense, and is relatively easy to obtain. Iron is stronger than bronze yet share completely identical skill requirements needed to wield and use both metals respective armour, weapons, woodcutting axes and pickaxes.
Iron rocks can be mined for iron ore, which can be smelted into iron bars at level 15 Smithing. Iron bars can be used to smith iron weapons and armour. Iron armour and weapons require level 1 in Defense and attack respectively to wield, and similarly, level 1 Mining is needed to use an iron pickaxe.
Forging iron bars[]
Iron bars can be used for forging as part of the Smithing skill. By using a iron bar on an anvil with a hammer in the player's inventory, iron armour and weapons can be created. Each iron bar gives 25 experience when consumed to make an item.
