Iron is a metal stronger than bronze, and is the 2nd weakest metal in RuneScape Classic. Iron is cheap and easy to get from in-game stores, thus many new players or pures use equipment made of this metal as it does not have a level requirement in Defense. It is dark grey in colour.
Iron rocks are found as natural deposits and can be mined for iron ore, which can be smelted into iron bars. Iron bars can be used for iron smithing weapons and armour. Iron armour and weapons require level 1 in Defense and Attack respectively to wield, and similarly, level 1 Mining is needed to use an Iron pickaxe.
