Examine | A freshly summoned demon |
Thrantax is a demon encountered during the Merlin's Crystal quest. The demon is summoned by going to the pentagram east, northeast of Camelot Castle, lighting a black candle, and dropping bat bones on the pentagram. Afterward, the player needs to recite the magic incantation "Snarthon Candtrick Termanto" to vanquish the demon and progress with freeing Merlin.
If the player uses the wrong incantation, the demon will attack the player for a brief period of time before disappearing or either opponent is defeated. Like other demons, Thranax is weak to Silverlight if the player wields the sword when combat is initiated. The player will require a new black candle to try the ritual again, however, the bat bones are return to the inventory.
Thranax is one of many demons that has the same appearance as a greater demon.
Dialogue

Location[]
- Summoned northeast of Camelot Castle
Duplication glitch
- Main article: NPC duplicate glitch

Several players stand by as Thrantax is cloned 64 times.
The NPC duplication glitch is simple to recreate unintentionally in the case of Thrantax - a demon summoned during the course of the Merlin's Crystal quest. After summoning the demon and spawning an NPC, the player is given dialogue choices. However if they click out of the dialogue, the demon will remain but will not be able to be attacked. This allows for the player to repeatedly drop bat bones, creating a teleport animation and new NPC to appear each time the bones are dropped. This does not consume the bat bones. In testing, up to 64 demons were able to be spawned before new NPC's ceased to be created.
Later versions of RuneScape[]
It is also possible to continue summoning Thrantax in later versions of RuneScape, although he appears as a ghost in both Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3, and he is not duplicated in the process of dropping bat bones repeatedly.
